COMM 105 - Intro to Video and Filmmaking

Credits: 3
In today’s rapidly changing world of communication technology, filmmaking has taken on new meaning. What was once mainly a term for narrative and documentary projects, it is now used to describe almost any type of visual communication vehicle. This can include YouTube and TikTok videos; short promotional films; short formdocumentaries sharing a snapshot of a person’s life; or video journalism . This class will examine all these mediums, but a main focus will be given to video journalism, promotional films and short form documentaries. Emphasis will be placed on proper camera operation, audio acquisition and non-linear editing.
