The Emergency Management Certificate provides students at the undergraduate level with an all hazards approach to emergency preparedness, utilizing the core tenets of emergency management: preparedness, prevention, response, recovery, and mitigation. Students develop an understanding of preparing for emergencies, management of operations during an event, principles and methods of incident management, implementation of recovery efforts, and the after action assessment process. Additionally, students will develop an understanding of ethical decision making, critical thinking, analytical inquiry, strategic planning, risk and vulnerability assessments, and collaboration with stakeholders.
