Return to: Programs by Department
Postdoctoral certificate studies are arranged by a person who has completed his or her doctoral studies. Individual requests may be granted by the Department of Leadership for scholarly pursuits in research, teaching, administration and/or practicums. Pursuit of specific areas of interest is determined on the basis of availability of senior faculty members. The total number of credits taken will be determined on an individual basis and will be reflected on the certificate transcript in the form of self-directed studies, independent study, or formal courses. Postdoctoral scholars can attend selected courses in the department of leadership either for academic credit or on audit basis. The postdoctoral certificate experience at Andrews is typically funded entirely by the student and his or her sponsoring organization.
Delivery: This program is offered both on campus and online (see School of Distance Education Definitions). The on campus program uses face to face interactions in class and on campus experiences to help the post-doc develop leadership skills and knowledge. The online program uses online course work to help students improve leadership in their existing place of employment or prepare for a new leadership opportunity. The online courses follow fixed enrollment with semester start and end dates. Participants interact with each other and with instructor throughout all courses. The online program does not require any on campus participation.
