GDPC 626 - Cognitive and Affective Bases of Behavior Credits: 3 A broad and general critical examination of issues and research in cognitive and affective influences on behavior. This includes perception, attention, categorization, working memory, long-term memory, knowledge, problem solving, reasoning, language, emotion and socio-cultural cognition. Additionally, there will be a focus on how emotion affects cognitive functioning. A wide variety of theories will be critically reviewed with application of research to practical problems, including assessment. Selected cognitive issues will be discussed from a cognitive science or neuropsychological perspective, and emotion research will also be considered.
