MATH 222 - Mathematics for Elementary Teachers II Credits: 3 This is the second of two courses that equip prospective elementary and middle school teachers with the deep conceptual knowledge, reasoning skills, and teaching methods for becoming effective mathematics teachers. This course emphasizes active engagement, conceptual understand, mathematical reasoning, and hands-on teaching methods. Topics include geometric figures and their properties, proofs in algebra and geometry, geometric transformations, symmetry, congruence, similarity, measurement, data analysis, and probability. Required of all students in the elementary education program.
