GDPC 606 - Studies in Family Dynamics Credits: 2–3 Family dynamics is the way in which members of a family interact with each other in relation to their individual goals and preferences. Although the family is a unit, people are individuals. This course is a survey of theory and research on family interaction in well-functioning and dysfunctional families. Students will encounter a micro-analysis of family process in communication, decision making, and problem solving. Theory and research on family coping with normative transitions and non-normative crises across the family life-cycle will be presented.
