ARTH 410 - Ancient Egyptian ArtCredits: 3 This course is an introductory survey of the art, archaeology, and architecture of ancient Egypt from the Predynastic culture through the period of Roman control. We will follow the development of iconic works of art and architecture by viewing decorated tombs, temples, statues, and grave goods. As most of these works were within the context of the spiritual beliefs of the time, significant attention will be paid to the development of the architecture and artworks in relation to the culture that created them, considering such factors as religion, politics, and everyday life as indicated by contemporary research and archaeology.
